Acclaimed San Franciscan duo Karmacoda is set to release a new single, ‘Practically Impossible to Please’ featuring fellow Bay Area singer Megan Slanker on the 1st of August 2025 via Sola Musa Music. Karmacoda has garnered praise from notable tastemakers including Wonderland Magazine, CLASH Magazine, NOTION, EARMILK, Magnetic Mag, Hotpress, and METAL Magazine as well as radio play from National radio stations NPR (US) and RTÉ 2XM (Ireland). The band’s work has made its way into various film and TV scores, winning the Hermes Creative Awards (Platinum) for their ‘Lo-Fi Girl’ video and ‘Make Me The One’ video which resulted in one Unglued Music Video (Gold) and three Davey Awards for Video Entertainment, Best Use of Music and Art Direction (all Silver). The duo is composed of core members Brett Crockett aka B. (producer) and Japanese-American multi-instrumentalist Eric Matsuno (bass and unique elements). With their expansive discography and numerous awards, Karmacoda is known for their genre-blending approach as they’ve explored electronica, chill, trip-hop, R&B, rock, and dream pop in their two-decade career. Their ever-evolving sound is a reflection of their ability to embrace change, with their latest release set to ensnare fans of Sabrina Carpenter, SZA, Chappell Roan, and Alicia Keys. Featured vocalist Megan Slankard is known for her powerhouse vocals, sharp songwriting, and dynamic live shows. She has sold over 50,000 albums independently with her band The Wreckage, and co-produced with American producer and multi-instrumentalist Alex Wong. A seasoned performer, Megan brings her signature blend of grit and heart to this bold new collaboration. ‘Practically Impossible to Please’, co-written by Slankard and Crockett (who also produced the track) is a gorgeous hearkening to 90s/2000s Soul Pop. Lush production allows the soulful R&B-tinged instrumentation to shine as it buoys Megan Slanker’s passionate vocals and gospel lines that instantly tug at the listener’s deepest feelings. Karmacoda’s Brett Crockett told us: “I wanted to write a modern R&B, Soul, electronica-tinged song with an old school vibe. We reached out to our friend vocalist and musician Megan Slankard who loved the music. Megan wrote the lyrics and sang the vocal lead and did a fantastic emotional job. The song is about, as the title implies, someone in a troublesome relationship and states that she is ‘practically impossible to please’.”
