With Ganbaru, DORRR delivers a deeply personal pop EP exploring resilience at its most fragile, featuring an electronic dark-pop rework of her single Lonely Sun by Leeds-based duo Scenius. For fans of The XX, Arcade Fire and Lana Del Rey Following standout shows and strong responses to her recent singles, DORRR announces the release of her new EP Ganbaru on 27 February 2026, across all platforms. The EP takes its name from the Japanese word ganbaru, often translated as “doing your best”, but more closely tied to the idea of perseverance — the kind that inspires you to commit fully despite fear, exhaustion or doubt, without any promise of a happy ending. Ganbaru includes a new version of her single Lonely Sun, originally released in early 2025. Reworked by Leeds-based duo Scenius, the remix leans into their electronic dark-pop signature while bringing a fresh perspective on one of the record’s key themes: women’s need for recognition, symbolised by the sun that keeps shining, even when unseen. “After my band split up — it was such a huge part of my life — I felt completely empty and thought I’d lost the spark forever. But a series of events pushed me to move forward and slowly relearn how to believe in myself,” DORRR explains. A solo project born after several years fronting The Blind Suns, a surf/rock duo with over 120 shows played internationally, the French-Polish artist continues the artistic shift first hinted at on her debut album Glitch and Glitter. With Ganbaru, her songwriting becomes more stripped-back and intimate, carried by productions from Moon Pilot. She steps away from the dream-pop haze of her early work in favour of a new pop sound: pulsing synths, hypnotic vocals and cinematic atmospheres. “I felt the need to explore new sounds and approach writing differently. I wanted to ditch the reverb, put the guitar down a bit, and really step into my role as a lead singer.” Across the EP, DORRR touches on isolation, self-acceptance and unspoken desires, sharing her own way of navigating complex emotions. A bright melancholy runs through the record, echoing a life that tests us without ever fully putting out our inner glow. Track highlights include What’s Going On, a melancholic inner road trip built around a 70s-tinged pop chorus, and Low & Slow, a celebration of creative freedom in an increasingly constrained world. The indie pop-electro track I Might Be Weird embraces difference as a strength, while the cover of Black Balloon (The Kills) is reworked as a reconciliatory farewell to an inner struggle. “I’ve grown more mature in the way I work, and I’m learning to let go of the pressure I put on myself during The Blind Suns years. It’s incredibly freeing. This EP already opens up a lot of new paths for what comes next.” Based in Nantes (France), DORRR is firmly rooted in the independent scene, supported by local and international organisations including Le Chabada, Wiseband and UK-based Anara Publishing. Committed to greater equality in the music industry, she also took part in the Keychange programme (2019–2020), which promotes gender balance. ###ENDS###
