Bio / One Sheet A singer-songwriter, painter from Saskatoon, now living in Montreal, Benjamin Russell is known for his hit single, MIRACLE, for which he was nominated, "Most Promising Male Vocalist", in the 80s. He has released many albums, singles and videos, and has shown his paintings in exhibitions. Creation is as essential as breathing for Benjamin Russell. He can’t help it - music, painting, videos, photography - he even creates in his dreams, often waking up with a song or a painting completely planned out. Best known for music, WAVES is his 20th album (release: Feb. 5, 2025). After a hiatus to focus on painting and health issues, Benjamin Russell and Elyce, his partner in life and art, returned to the music scene at the end of 2019 with the release of their "rock opera" album, SHIKASTA SUITE. Since then, there has been a growing crescendo of recognition for their projects, including their award winning albums, FRONTIER (2023) and PLEASURE CENTER (2024). Meanwhile collaborations with producer, Rob Stuart, on SOMETHING IN F MINOR (album) and BRIGHTER LIGHT (EP), and an EP with Greg Fraser, GHOST PARTICLES (Messages From Rude Van Steenes), also won awards. Accolades Jimm Kjelgaard on the Sol of Synthpop show named PLEASURE CENTER a top 10 album with 3 songs from that album in the top 100 songs for 2024, while last year’s FRONTIER was named a top 15 album for 2023. Artefaktor Radio from Mexico City awarded THE STRANGER WITHIN from GHOST PARTICLES a Top 50 song for 2024. SOMETHING IN F MINOR landed on Artefaktor Radio's top album list for 2023.
