Purple Dots en découverte sur LRdR Stared at the Sun

Purple Dots Bio: Purple Dots is Ryan Felvus — a singer, songwriter, and guitarist from the north of England with a voice soaked in soul and a deep suspicion of the digital age. A working class tradesman from Rotherham, long before releasing a single track, he laid a carpet for the Arctic Monkeys' guitarist — six months before they took off — and has since been quietly crafting a sound all his own. “I have dreams and I hear music,” Ryan says. “I lay in bed and hear melodies and riffs. Don’t know where it comes from, and I can’t stop it.” Trying to break out of the rat race, his long-awaited debut album, due in 2026, is a lifetime in the making: raw, hypnotic, and soaked in northern grit. Sonically, it’s a swirling mix of psychedelic indie rock that channels the spirit of The Stone Roses, Jimi Hendrix and Wunderhorse. Despite getting kicked out of college at 16, self-taught guitarist Felvus voraciously consumed classic works of literature, philosophy and film to elevate his mind and hone his songwriting voice. Stared at the Sun was recorded at Tecna Studios in Sheffield by Daniel Glover (Self Esteem, Slow Club, Jim Ghedi, Saint Katherine’s Child). Backing him in the studio is a heavyweight band: Erroll Rollins (Drums) – (Belinda Carlisle, The Human League, Corinne Bailey Rae) Joel White (Keys) – Pulp, Finley Quaye, Hauge & White Marcus Axlby (bass) – Boy on a Dolphin This is music born of lived experience, analog grit, and defiant honesty. Purple Dots isn’t chasing the algorithm, he’s chasing transcendence.
